The ACI-Illinois chapter is offering a number of certification sessions in 2024. In addition to Grade 1 Field Technician, the ACI-Illinois chapter also offers, Aggregate Technician, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, Adhesive Anchor Installer (AAI), Post Installed Concrete Anchor Installer Inspector (PICAII), Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) Technician, Concrete Construction Special Inspector (CCSI).
Check the schedule below for a session of interest or sessions you need to renew your ACI certification. Review the class listings below and register via email to RegisterACI-IL@concretece.com.
Check the wesite as your session date approaches. Class rosters below the required minimums may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

This year the University of Wisconsin @ Madison “Repair of Concrete” was conducted on April 2 through April 4.
It was a pleasure to be in Madison in person and connect with the attendees who brought up numberous concrete repair questions that led to engaged discussions with all instructors.
Can't wait until next years session, as the course is always an enjoyable event!

PCA Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures Session
A class of 24 attended PCA's Design and Control of Concrete MIxtures class in Baltimore, Maryland. Attendees traveled from a variety of locations including, Alaska, Toronto, Ohio, Florida, Colorado and Washington.
The group had a wide range of experience. Everyone had interesting questions and were passionate about concrete materials and construction.
It was a joy to spend four days with this group in both classroom and lab settings!
It was a pleasure to present with Michelle Wilson of PCA and Colin Lobo of the NRMCA.
PCA's Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures program is great for someone new to the Industry as well as experienced personnel because new products are being introduced frequently and practices change as we learn from past performance. This program is also a great fundamental review in preparing to attend PCA's Troubleshooting course. Check out PCA's Website at cement.org with the following link:

Once again George W. Seegebrecht was blessed with the honor to serve as Master of Ceremonies at this year's convention Opening Session and the ACI Excellence Awards Gala.
The Opening Session included a thought-provoking presentation by keynote speaker and author, Mr. Mark Bowden, who enlightened the ACI audience on the critical role of body language in communication and building trust with others in all types of settings.

Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Annual Convention
The CSDA held this years’ annual convention at the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St. Petersburg Florida.
George Seegebrecht was honored to deliver a short presentation entitled "How to Sell Your Company and Services to Specifiers". Thank you to CTLGroup and Dr. Shiraz Tayabji who contributed photos of short case histories where Sawing and Drilling services played an important role in projects.
The event was well attended and networking at the golf outing and dinners was very insightful and inspiring. The presentations by keynote speaker Captain Kent Ewing and General Garry Dean were inspiring and impressive as they recounted some of the highlights of their careers!
The events were opened with a color guard, a beautifully sung national anthem and the pledge of allegiance. It was an excellent way to start the event that gave one goosebumps! What an honor to participate in the convention. Thanks CSDA!!!

2019 Winter Concrete Convention
The Illinois & Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Associations held their 2019 Winter Concrete Convention at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California.
On February 17-20, the conference included interesting education sessions, panel discussions, hosted receptions and open exhibits.

2019 Revisiting Best Concrete Practice
Friday January 25, 2019, George Seegebrecht was blessed with the opportunity to present a seminar entitled, “Revisiting Best Concrete Practices”. The presentation was sponsored by the City of Akron, Ohio and took place at the Oliver Ocasek Building in Akron. The 125 attendees included those from ready mixed concrete companies, contractors, testing laboratories, chemical companies, engineering firms, facility managers, and other nearby municipalities.
This was a very experienced group and their excellent questions about curing, hot and cold weather concreting, cracking and thermal issues kept the session interesting. Attendees received 3.5 Professional Development Hours for their participation.

IRMCA Extreme 2018 Concrete Conference
The Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association held their 2018 Concrete Convention in East Peoria, IL at the Embassy Suites East Peoria Riverfront Hotel and Conference Center.
The conference included the January 31 / February 1, 2018 ACI Concrete Flatwork Technician Finisher Certification session conducted by Mr. Randell Riley P.E. Executive Director of the Illinois ACPA and Mr. Luke Snell, P.E. Executive Director of the ACI Missouri Chapter. The 2-day program include a class review and then a 2-hour closed book exam.
On February 1st and 2nd the conference included interesting education sessions, panel discussions, hosted receptions and open exhibits.

ACI Convention 2017
George W. Seegebrecht had the honor of serving as Master of Ceremonies for the ACI Convention Opening Ceremonies at the Renaissance Marriott in Detroit on March 26.
ACI Awards were presented by ACI President Michael J. Schneider to four Honorary Members, ACI’s most prestigious award. Awards were then presented to 27 Outstanding new Fellows and 27 50-year members. A tremendous amount of dedicated industry changing contributions were celebrated in these extraordinary awardees.
An Inspirational keynote talk was delivered by former NFL quarterback Tom Flick entitled; “Leadership in a Faster Moving World”.

As the ceremony drew to a close Michael Schneider passed the gavel to incoming ACI President Mr. Khaled Awad.

ACI Convention 2016
George W. Seegebrecht was again blessed with the honor to serve as Master of Ceremonies for ACI. The 2016 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards Gala was held on October 24th. The program showcased outstanding projects in all six categories.
Top honors went to the Italy Chapter's nomination, the Palazzo Italia, heart of Expo 2015.

Concrete Construction Special Inspector session was conducted at ACI Headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, for professors from Baghdad University and the ACI Iraq Chapter. The 3-day program included a variety of topics including concrete placement, hot weather concrete, curing, reinforcement inspection, plan reading and others. This was a highly educated group with many interesting questions and discussions during the program. |

Concrete Construction Special Inspector
Concrete Construction Special Inspector Session was conducted for a national contractor at their office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. This session consisted of a course review on the first two days and on the third day, with a 3-hour open book written examination and a plan reading examination. This group had a wide variety of design, field, and management experience that brought interesting questions and discussion to the session. |
